HRCI Team Leader Job Description

Position: HRCI Team Leader
Responsible To: VP Career Management,  Chapter Members
Direct Reports: Team Members

 

FUNCTION
Increase the number of chapter members who are certified PHR/SPHR by the Human Resource Certification Institute through the coordination and facilitation of study groups.  Encourage members to become certified and recertified.

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Counsel HR practitioners who are considering or who will be taking HRCI exam; act as a resource on any HRCI related question, including re-certification requirements

  • Present certification information to SAHRA chapter through announcements, newsletters and round table discussions

  • Recruit Certified facilitators to lead each study groups, and plan for successor

  • Coordinate study group efforts including promotion, meeting scheduling, location of meeting facility, materials and time lines; determine preparation strategy, meeting format, participant’s assignments and resources to be used; prepare and distribute study group assignments with names, dates and topics

  • Act as liaison with SHRM state and Area Certification Coordinators and the HRCI Institute

  • Schedule an orientation meeting for all interested participants for each study group

  • Collect, type and distribute work phone/address lists to group members

  • Coordinate application process, order and distribute applications and handbooks on time, and confirm test site location

  • Attend study group meetings as necessary to stay abreast of group progress (if not facilitating own group)

  • Maintain up-to-date study materials (modules); budget for new material as needed

  • Collect handouts from each study group presentation for future reference/library.

  • Coordinate the collection of fees with the Executive Director

  • Plan celebration meeting immediately following the exam (optional, depending on group interest).

  • Provide newly certified members names to Executive Director for generation of congratulatory letters to chapter members following notification of certification and to update directories and name tags

  • Develop informative newsletter articles and forward to SAHRA administrative office no later than the last Friday of each month

  • Track and report pass/fail rates of active study group members.

  • Compile and develop monthly report of team activities and forward to SAHRA administrative office no later than the last Friday of each month

  • Provide Executive Director with updated Web site content as necessary

  • Submit names of newly certified members for publication in the newsletter and recognition at the next appropriate monthly meeting

  • Monitor and maintain resource budget. Submit requests for payment as expenses are incurred.

  • Attend Board meetings as necessary (minimum 2 per term).

  • Utilize methods of continuous quality improvement.

  • Recruit, train and retain volunteers; plan for successor

  • Train new facilitators; orient new Team Leader at end of term

REQUIREMENTS
Must be a SAHRA member in good standing.  Effectively facilitate meetings.  Contribute to development of strategic direction and follow through on goals and objectives.  Current SHRM membership preferred.  Must have SPHR or PHR certification.  Effective communication skills. Ability to coach, develop and mentor volunteers. Ability to identify creative solutions within limited resources. Ability to stay within the budget.  Plan, implement and follow through on goals and objectives

TIME COMMITMENT, in addition to Board and Monthly meetings:
Time Commitment varies around study group and test date:

May Exam 

Study group runs from end of February through the first week of May.

December Exam

Study group runs from end of August through the first week of December.

Time to coordinate initial phone questions, conducting orientation meetings,
ordering books, photocopying materials, etc.

4 Hours per month during study group time

 If you include attending all study group meetings
16 Hours per month during study group time

 May, June, and July are free months
