Study Group Locations & Days

Human Resource Certification is the symbol of professional achievement. Beyond experience and education, the PHR or SPHR designation signifies that you have mastered the HR body of knowledge. The Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) maintains the nationally recognized standards set by individuals working in the profession.

Certification exams are administered using computer based testing (CBT) during two periods in the months of May and June and again in December and January, in major cities around the United States, including Sacramento.

Part of SAHRA's mission is to support and promote the increased professional development of our members. SAHRA does this through Chapter sponsored study groups.

SAHRA offers study groups to prepare members for the Winter PHR and SPHR certification exams beginning the week of August 16, 2010. Members may sign up for class through the first week of meetings. No sign ups will be taken after Friday, 8/20/2010. All study materials must be ordered and in hand by the second week of meetings.

NOTE: The study groups will meet once a week beginning Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, August 17, 18, and 19, and will help prepare participants to sit for the PHR or SPHR Exam.  No single course of study guarantees success on the HRCI examinations.

The SHRM Learning System is designed to provide you with an overview of key areas in human resources management. Materials include the six modules that correspond to the six functional areas as defined by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).

Certification Information
Please note: to earn either the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designations, candidates must have at least two (2) years of exempt-level experience in the HR field to be eligible to apply for either exam.   For more information on qualifying and applying to take the exam, visit www.hrci.org

 All participants must be current SAHRA members. To join SAHRA sign up on this website or call the office. Participants may order their SHRM Learning System through SAHRA and receive a $100.00 discount. All participants must be signed up for membership; the study group of their choice, and have received their study materials by the second class of the session. By the middle of the study group session, all attendees should have applied to take the PHR or SPHR exam through www.HRCI.org. HRCI alone approves individuals to sit for the exam.
